Katie Brown

Educator in Residence

An Oklahoma City native, Katie Brown is honored to join the Oklahoma Hall of Fame for the summer of 2018 as the Educator in Residence. Katie is an educator who works with students to empower them to follow their dreams and become the people they want to be. Katie believes that the future of our students is greatly impacted by the education they receive both in and out of the classroom.

One of Katie's great passions is helping other educators make the most out of their classroom experience and find the same joy that she has achieved through the years. The opportunity to write companion curriculum for the Hall of Fame's free Field Trip program is an exciting opportunity! Her hope is that teachers across the state will be able to use the lessons to teach their students about the amazing people in our state.

Katie has worked as a teacher in Oklahoma for 28 years, teaching everything from elementary to middle school and even some college classes! She has been a presenter at several statewide conferences and has led professional development for her peers. In addition, she has written curriculum used in elementary classrooms. She received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and her masters in Educational Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Katie is also a wife and mother of 3 terrific children. Katie and her husband Doug enjoy serving at their church and watching the Sooners play football. She also enjoys reading, music and doing math!
