FAQ
Learn more about our Free Field Trip program.
All educational and childcare organizations are eligible to apply for the Free Field Trips program (e.g., public and private schools, extracurricular organizations, daycares, homeschool co-ops, etc.). Groups must have at least 8 students to qualify.
We request that applications be submitted at least 30 days before the requested tour date, but it’s never too early to apply! The earlier you apply, the more likely you are to successfully reserve your first choice date.
Free Field Trips are offered year-round, Tuesday-Friday, 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Tours typically last 90 minutes from start to finish. If you would like to check a date’s availability, please contact the Manager of Museum Education.
Groups will receive a guided tour of the full Museum and all exhibits and galleries open to the public at the time of the visit. Outdoor lunch space is available upon request at the time of booking. Supplementary educational materials are available upon request by contacting the Manager of Museum Education. Additionally, groups may qualify for a fuel reimbursement stipend by submitting an experience survey after the visit. Experience surveys are sent via email, after the tour’s conclusion, to the individual responsible for submitting the group’s original application.
Due to limited space inside our building, we are able to accommodate up to 100 students at a time. If your group is larger than 100 students, you will be asked to divide your group and visit over multiple days or times.
Our policy requires a MINIMUM of 1 adult chaperone for every 10 students. As of August 1, 2023, groups may bring 2 adult chaperones per every 10 students at no cost. Additional adults may still attend the field trip, but will be asked to pay a discounted admission price of $5 each. (NOTE: “chaperone” refers to any adults attending the field trip, including teachers, bus drivers, parents, classroom aids, etc.)
All tours meet Oklahoma Academic Standards, can be modified to accommodate most age levels, and include all temporary and permanent galleries and installations. Each tour showcases different famous Oklahomans based on their professions and accomplishments.
