Bio

Oklahoma native Ross H. Miller graduated from East Central Oklahoma State College (now East Central University) in 1943 before receiving his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma in 19466 and earning his M.S. in Neurosurgery from the University of Minnesota in 1952. After serving an internship in Cleveland, Ohio, and a tour of duty in the U.S. Army, Dr. Miller was accepted for study at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and then asked to remain on the staff, serving as a fellow in neurosurgery from 1950 until 1952 when he was appointed Associate Consultant. In 1954 he was asked to join the staff of the clinic as a consultant in neurosurgery and at the time of his induction, held the position of Professor of Neurology, Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, University of Minnesota. Dr. Miller served as president of the staff of the Mayo Clinic in 1973 and was also Chairman of the Department of Neurological Surgery at the clinic. He was a highly sought after lecturer and published numerous journal articles on his primary interest, the treatment of brain and spinal cord tumors. In 1975, he served as visiting professor at the University of Oklahoma Medical School and was on the Board of Trustees at East Central Oklahoma State University, his alma mater, which presented him its distinguished alumnus award in 1974.
