Biography
Paul H. Aurandt was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and began his radio career in 1933 at KVOO-AM while attending high school and earning his way through college at the University of Tulsa. He later managed a radio station in Salina, Kansas, and then went on to news broadcasting at KOMA-AM in Oklahoma City and at KXOK-AM in St. Louis. He married Lynne Cooper, lovingly referred to as “Angel,” and was well on his way to becoming the voice of that “great silent majority.” He changed his name to Paul Harvey when he took his first Chicago, Illinois, job with WENR-AM in 1944. His popular cadence and “Good Morning” to millions of Americans is still as mesmerizing as his “And now you know…the rest of the story.” In 2005, Paul Harvey received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from U.S. President George W. Bush.

In the 21st century, Paul Harvey "News and Comment" and "The Rest of the Story" could be heard six days a week while Paul Harvey News was the largest one-man network in the world, consisting of over 1200 radio stations, 400 Armed Forces Network stations that broadcast around the world, and 300 newspapers. His "News and Comment" was streamed on the Internet twice a day. Harvey was once presented an award as “the man who contributed the most toward preserving the American way of life.”
