Jane Jayroe

Jane Jayroe is the author of several inspirational books, including Devote Forty Days, More Grace than Glamour (with Bob Burke), and Oklahoma III (with David Fitzgerald).  She is the founder and director of a successful luncheon series for Oklahoma women called “Esther Women.”   Jayroe’s career includes Miss America 1967, seventeen years as a television news anchor in Oklahoma City and Dallas/Ft. Worth, spokesperson for the Oklahoma Health Center, and Cabinet Secretary of Tourism for Oklahoma.  

She has been an active leader in the state’s volunteer community, including Oklahoma City University, founding board member for SALLT, Oklahoma City Community Foundation, UMC Church of the Servant, Sarkeys Foundation, Oklahoma Hall of Fame, Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestra Board, and MAPS3 Parks Subcommittee.    

From Laverne, Oklahoma, Jayroe makes her home in Oklahoma City with her husband Gerald Gamble and received Oklahoma’s highest honor, induction into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, in 2007.
