Gwendolyn Hooks

Gwendolyn Hooks is the author of many books for children including Porpoises in Peril and The Pet Club Stories series. She also has a non-fiction science series about food webs. Hooks has written for a South Korean publisher and an English publisher. Some of her books have been translated into Spanish and one is in French.

She taught seventh grade math until the day she realized she wanted to write for children. She says, “It’s a super cool job!” She writes in her home office. But for inspiration, Hooks walks in her neighborhood park. She hopes a squirrel will drop an acorn on her head that will explode into a new book idea. If that doesn’t work, she explores the amazing museums in Oklahoma.
