Back to School
Born into prominent Oklahoma families in 1889, Dr. Muriel Wright was one of Oklahoma’s early premier educators. She graduated with a teaching degree from East Central University in Ada and even went on to study at Columbia University in New York City. She would go on to serve not only as teacher but as principal at various schools around the state. Wright was also very interested and actively engaged in Choctaw Tribal affairs as well as studying the culture of other Oklahoma tribes. By 1943, she had become the editor of the Chronicles of Oklahoma and had published several books about Oklahoma and its people and history. Dr. Muriel Wright was able to not only capture the essence of Oklahoma through her books and articles, but she was also an amazing educator who strove to provide her students with the best education available. And as many Oklahoma students go back to school, it is important to look back our early educators but also support and assist today’s educators. Oklahoma students deserve the best and we are here to help get you ready to start school. Below are various activities to get you prepared for the upcoming school year!
