On Display: May 30 to August 29
Although mask making is where his true passion lies, G. Patrick Riley practiced many mediums throughout his career. He began with drawing, experimented with jewelry making, and sculpts as well.
Knowing from a young age that he wanted to be an artist, Riley attended the University of Oklahoma, receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1964 and his Master of Arts Education in 1971. He was honored with Oklahoma Governor’s Arts Awards in 1995 and 2011. His art has been featured in exhibits and collections across the nation.
Celebrating an arts education career spanning more than 50 years, Riley has served as teacher, professor, and administrator. He continues impacting students across the state through the Oklahoma Arts Council’s artist residency program. Riley is most rewarded by his students:
I never expected to spend my life with so many extraordinary and talented human beings. I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge, respect, and inspiration from them. Their enthusiasm for life and desire for joy and happiness have influenced me more than I can ever measure.
