Many of our amazing Oklahoma Hall of Fame members have served in the military. As we honor those members’ lives and legacies, we also celebrate the brave Oklahomans who keep us safe.
Over 19,000 men and women are currently listed as being on active duty in Oklahoma and another 13,031 are in the reserve forces. These numbers don’t account for the Oklahomans who are stationed or deployed far from home, serving overseas. There are also more than 300,000 veterans living in our state. To those men and women, thank you for your service and your sacrifices. Also, to the families of America’s warriors, thank you for your support and your sacrifices.
To honor our active duty and veteran service members, the Gaylord-Pickens Museum, home of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, is proud to be a Blue-Star Museum. Though we’re free every Summer Thursday for everyone, we’re also free every business day to military families from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Our thanks also goes out to our special partners today: the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum traveling Road Show!
We hope you enjoyed the mobile museum, story, movie, and craft. Thanks for being part of our museum family. We look forward to seeing you at the next Summer Thursday!
