#5YEARSOFBEERS

This year’s 5th Annual Oklahoma Born & Brewed was one for the ages. This has become one of my favorite events in Oklahoma, I look forward to it every year. If you have attended, you likely feel the same way. Spending an evening with local brews, live music, great eats and 400 of your new best friends all while supporting our kids, I mean come on!

Oklahoma truly has the most special people. Not only are they some of the kindest people, we have people making incredible strides in the arts, business, entrepreneurship, science and so much more. The Oklahoma Hall of Fame does a beautiful job telling Oklahoma’s story through its people, inspiring current and future generations that they too can leave their mark. The Second Century Board hosts Oklahoma Born & Brewed to fund free educational programming for kids all across our state. Funding these opportunities for our kids is vital. The Oklahoma Hall of Fame and Gaylord-Pickens Museum programming provides students with exposure and inspiration that anything is possible for them and they can go on to do great things. While we drink beer and have a great time, it’s all for the kids. #FTK

The feature of the event is, you guessed it, the breweries. With the help of the Craft Brewers Association of Oklahoma, we secure the best breweries from all across the state. The creativity and craftsmanship that each brewery brings to our state is so apparent. I always leave with new favorite brews and learn so much about the various types of beers and techniques.

This year we were excited to host 19 breweries including (405) Brewing Co., Angry Scotsman Brewing, Anthem Brewing, Artisan Fine Wine & Spirits, BIG Brew Co., Bricktown Brewery, Cabin Boys Brewery, Canadian River Brewing Co., COOP Ale Works, Core4 Brewing Company, Iron Monk Brewing Company, Marshall Brewing Co., OK Cider Co., Prairie Artisan Ales, Renaissance Brewing Company, Roughtail Brewing Company, Stonecloud Brewing Co., Twisted Spike Brewing Co., and Vanessa House Beer Company. Trust me, even if you’re not a beer enthusiast, you will leave here with at least one new favorite!

To top off meeting new friends, drinking great beer, and supporting the kids, you can also walk away with one of the many local gift cards or amazing raffle packages. With over $12,000 in raffle items and gift cards available, you likely end the night making plans with your new friends around OKC.

Make plans to attend Oklahoma Born & Brewed next year, you won’t regret it. Go ahead and give the Oklahoma Hall of Fame a follow so you will be in the know when tickets and sponsorships go on sale for next year, you won’t want to miss it. I look forward to seeing you next year at OBB!
