Mike Gundy qualifies as "Mr. Cowboy" as he has played, coached as an assistant, and is currently the head football coach at Oklahoma State University. He will soon be the winnings football coach in OSU history. The All-State quarterback from Midwest City took his talents to OSU where, along with Thurman Thomas, Barry Sanders, Hart Lee Dykes and then head coach Pat Jones, he led OSU to two 10-win seasons and wins over West Virginia in the 1987 Sun Bowl and Wyoming in the 1988 Holiday Bowl. He is now in the Holiday Bowl Hall of Fame. He completed his college career as the all-time Big Eight leader in total offense. After serving as an assistant or a coordinator at Oklahoma State (twice), Baylor, and Maryland, Gundy was named head coach of the Cowboys in 2005. He has led Oklahoma State to two 11-win seasons and the 12-1 campaign in 2012. He was named both the Eddie Robinson and Paul "Bear" Bryant National College Coach of the Year.
Gundy and his wife, Kristen, also an OSU graduate, have three sons--Gavin, Gunnar, and Gage.
