The Oklahoma Hall of Fame is coming to Southwest Oklahoma

Join us for a free, interactive reading of Dust Storm by illustrator Christopher Nick!

The Oklahoma Hall of Fame is proud to present Stories Across Our State, a free and interactive children’s reading program! Thanks to generous support from the Carolyn Watson Rural Oklahoma Community Foundation, children will have the opportunity to enjoy an engaging and imaginative reading of Dust Storm, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame’s new award-winning children’s book, with illustrator Christopher Nick! Followed by a craft time led by Nick, each family will also receive a free autographed copy of Dust Storm!

Born and raised in rural Oklahoma, Christopher Nick’s vibrant illustrations bring Dust Storm, written by Jane McKellips, to life. Nick attended the Atelier LeSueuer before apprenticing with national illustrator Mike Wimmer to complete his professional training. Currently residing once again in his home state, Nick continues to pursue artistic endeavors while embodying the ingenuity and integrity of a true Oklahoman.

The Carolyn Watson Rural Oklahoma Community Foundation was founded by the late Carolyn Watson, CEO and chairman of Shamrock Bank, N.A., in 1995 to improve the quality of life in rural Oklahoma communities. Through its two grant programs, the organization promotes education, health, literacy and arts and the humanities in 20 Oklahoma counties. Since its-inception, the Carolyn Watson Rural Oklahoma Community Foundation has awarded nearly $900,000 in grants to schools, teachers and communities in rural Oklahoma. Additionally, the Carolyn Watson Opportunities Scholarship offers awards of up to $10,000 per academic year for high school seniors graduating from 62 rural Oklahoma counties to attend college.
